I’m Justin Saul, a technology executive, founder, and inventor based in the Seattle area. I am most useful when the opportunity matters, the technical path is uncertain, and someone needs to bring the pieces together.
That has been the recurring work of my career: learn enough about a difficult problem to make sound decisions, design a system that can address it, and assemble a team capable of delivering it.
Technical depth, connected to the whole business
My foundation is software architecture. I have designed data models, distributed systems, cloud platforms, and the infrastructure behind growing products. I still value getting close enough to the technical work to understand the constraints and challenge the assumptions.
Over time, the products demanded a wider view. A good architecture needed a useful customer experience. A promising prototype needed a manufacturing path. A growing company needed the team, controls, and operating decisions to support its next stage.
At NNOXX, where I was co-founder and CEO, those responsibilities came together in a wearable platform spanning software, firmware, optics, hardware, and production. At A Place for Mom, they came together in building SeniorAdvisor and leading YouveGotLeads. Through technology advisory work, they included helping a biotech company build the foundations for significant growth.
The setting changes. I keep returning to the connection between the technical decision and the business it makes possible.
Learning is part of the work
Some of the most valuable progress happens when a team brings the right expertise into a problem from an unexpected direction. At NNOXX, an optical challenge led me to draw on expertise from deep-sea optics. The task was to recognize what that experience could contribute, bring the right people together, and make it useful in a wearable system.
Earlier, I founded Style du Jour to explore personalized fashion recommendations. The work led to a prototype and two issued patents on which I am a co-inventor. That experience with algorithmic personalization continues to inform how I think about applied AI: start with a specific human need and work through the system required to serve it.
How I lead
I want people to understand the purpose of the work and have the information to make good decisions. That calls for transparency about the opportunity, the constraints, and the tradeoffs.
I give people ownership, stay available for difficult decisions, and invest in their development. Coaching is part of delivery. So is removing an obstacle before it consumes the team’s attention.
Some of the most meaningful feedback comes later: a former colleague asks to work together again, someone I mentored steps into a larger leadership role, or a team member chooses to take on more responsibility. Those are the relationships I want to build alongside the product.
What I’m working on now
I am Managing Partner at Amplist, focused on helping creators and rights holders find useful, commercially grounded applications for AI. The work brings together technology architecture, product decisions, intellectual property, and the practical requirements of implementation.
I am also interested in conversations about technology leadership, new ventures, and businesses facing a consequential technical transition.
A working philosophy
Business is my canvas for innovation and growth.
For me, that means creating something people can use, building an organization that can support it, and helping the people doing the work develop along the way.
I earned an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Washington and a BS in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Seattle University.
